Tokyo 2020 Olympics Opening Ceremony

 

After being postponed for a year, The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games have officially kicked off after the opening ceremony 

The Opening Ceremony has been a vital  part of every Olympics since the first Olympic games were held in Athens in 1896 and considered  an opportunity for the host country to promote its national identity to the world. The Olympics is watched by hundreds of millions of television viewers globally plus thousands of spectators who flock to the Olympic Stadium for the proceedings.

The event was held from the city’s Olympic Stadium and without spectators to prevent the spread of infections, however 1,000 VIPs were allowed to attend.The beginning of Tokyo 20 not only the start of two weeks of sporting feats, it is also the end of a long and tiring time for the Japanese organisers who have been waiting for this moment since 8 September 2013 and the designation of Tokyo as the host city of the 2020 Olympic Games.



No spectators for the athletes

More than 11,000 athletes from 206 nations are attending the Tokyo Opening Ceremony. However, unlike the past years , there won’t be any general public spectators.As Japan’s Olympic Committee  announced the Games would not allow spectators in its venues after the country declared a new state of emergency on the city because of COVID-19. No spectators for the 11,090 athletes, But the 11,090 athletes making up the 206 delegations for the first time  contain the same women and men.


Effect of COVID-19 on Olympics 

Due to coronavirus restrictions , Instead of a 68,000-capacity crowd cheering the athletes they allow fewer than a thousand to cheer the athletes.about 6,000 competitors and team officials, 900 Games stakeholders and guests of honour, and 3,500 members of the media, organisers were allowed to attend.


Tokyo 2020 Details 

Italian creative director Marco Balich is serving as a senior advisor to executive producer Takayuki Hioki, who was appointed in March. Balich has previous experience producing Olympic ceremonies for the 2006, 2014 and 2016 Games.
With time difference, Tokyo is 13 hours ahead of the Eastern United States, 16 hours ahead of the West so if you are vin the Eastern or the West you have to leave your bed early to support your 
Nation.

For the first time in Olympic history they allow to have two flag carrier for each nation " a man and a women".
